Love MOM
Winter break 2007. I had been working in a microbiology lab in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley. The PI gave us each a little box filled with chocolate-covered toffee from a candy store in San Francisco. It was very delicious. I brought the box home and gave some to MOM to try. She said, 好好吃!(So good!) I went upstairs, and when I came back down, she had eaten all of the chocolate. I was angry because she ate all my candy and didn't save any for me. I yelled at her and then stormed off. The next day, she went to the store and bought some chocolate-covered toffee and put it back in the box. She put a big red bow on it. Then she gave it to me and said, "It's not the same, but it's close." I still have the box and the bow. They remind me that things that you might think are important in the moment really don't matter in the long run. Everyone has faults. Learn to accept them. Love and cherish the good forever.
